Heres the deal.......I have Achilles Tendonitis, Haglunds Deformity and Retrocaneal Bursitis. I have been to 3 Doctors. Two in Dallas and one in Orange Co. Calif. The two in Dallas are recommending surgery and the one in the OC wants me to try PRP.... I am very hesitant on the PRP as I have been reading results and they only give you a 50-50 chance. Has anyone tried this procedure?
Anyway, would love to hear from someone who recently has gone through this surgery.
Thanks

ReplyDeleteHi, Cali Girl!
Sorry for the delay in the postings. I've been so busy reading a couple of good books that I got sidetracked about updating the blog.
Tell me more about your injury and options. I was in a boot, trying to avoid surgery while actually damaging my ankle more, from May till October - time wasted as far as I am concerned. However, let me warn you about the surgery:
It is painful, and the recovery time is long. It's very difficult to get around in casts, and boots, and crutches. I am not prone to being depressed, but even as optimistic a person as I am, I have been struggling with frustration.
And I've been very lucky so far. My surgery and recovery have been better than expected.
I guess what I'm saying is this - if you opt to have the surgery, be prepared for literally MONTHS of frustration. The thing that gets to me the most is not being able to do things for myself. I am a project type person - I love painting murals, refinishing furniture, making drapes, decorating the house for the holidays - and all that is off limits for the next few months it seems. It's a big adjustment.
But I do believe I will recover fully over time - and I have to remind myself that BEFORE the surgery, I was in considerable pain and was only getting worse, not better.
Let me know more about your situation - and I wll be very happy to answer any questions that I can!
Good luck,
Melanie
